The International Iberoamerican University (UNINI Puerto Rico) will organize the webinar "Clinical Decisions and Stigmatizing Attitudes in Relation to Mental Disorders in Primary Care Physicians in Latin American Countries", which will be given by Angel Rojas, on November 4th at 12:00 p.m. (Puerto Rico).
The webinar will focus on a topic that has become increasingly visible in recent years: mental health.
Treatment of common mental disorders in primary care units has been proposed as a priority strategy to ensure that all people with mental disorders have access to the therapeutic approach they need. However, primary care physicians face significant barriers to the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders because they are not trained to do so or because of stigmatizing attitudes. The proposal for the webinar is to explain, from a theoretical-practical perspective, how stigma or stigmatizing attitudes related to mental disorders can affect the care provided to patients with common mental disorders by primary care physicians.
Ángel Rojas has a PhD in Psychiatry and Medical Psychology with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. He is a researcher at the Program for Recognition and Intervention in Mental States at Risk (PRISMA), as well as at the Brazilian Institute of Psychopharmacology and Pharmacogenetics (BIPP) where he is responsible for several projects.
The conference is both free and accessible to all those interested in the topic, and will be streamed live on YouTube. To consult the schedules, please, access this link.
