Fabio Vivan Grigollo, a PhD student in Projects with a specialization in Research at the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (UNIB) in Puerto Rico, has recently published an article in Caderno Pedagógico, an important Brazilian journal specialized in discussing pedagogical aspects in all areas of knowledge.
Caderno Pedagógico has the distinguished Qualis A2 classification, which reflects the high level of the journal, being internationally recognized for its excellence, academic contribution and scientific rigor. This distinction also reflects the quality of the study conducted by Fabio Vivan, under the direction of Roberto Fabiano Fernandes, professor at UNIB.
The research was presented under the title "Comparative analysis of software used in anonymised search and seizure cases: acquisition, examination and analysis".
The objective was to examine the updating and maintenance of the forensic software that has been used for the acquisition, examination and analysis of digital evidence in judicial investigations in Brazil for almost a decade, specifically from 2014 to 2023. The results obtained were promising, showing that most of the software, approximately 87.5%, remains up to date and in use. This finding reflects a continuing trend towards technological innovation in the field of digital forensics.
The study paves the way for future research, proposing a geographical expansion of the analysis to observe how forensic software develops in different contexts around the world. This approach underscores the importance of keeping software up to date, adapting to the rapid pace of technological change, in order to ensure that digital evidence is reliable and a useful tool in judicial decision-making.
