On March 22nd at 12:00 pm (Puerto Rico), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (UNIB) will organize the webinar "Rights and Wrongs on the Dietary Planning of a Trail Running", which will be given by Rubén Jiménez Alfageme.
The lecture will describe the main aspects involved in carrying out a successful dietary-nutritional planning in a mountain or trail running competition, emphasizing the main rights and wrongs that athletes usually make.
Among the main successes can be found, for example, pre-race planning, adequate gastrointestinal tract training prior to the race, advice from a nutrition professional or the adequate choice of sports supplements, or adequate nutrient intakes during the race.
On the other hand, regarding the main wrongs, the opposite is found: lack of pre-test planning, non-existence or very low examples of previous gastrointestinal tract training , advice by non-professionals in nutrition, inadequate use of supplements, failure to make adequate nutrient intakes during the test -–both for excess and deficiency–, etc.
Rubén Jiménez Alfageme (Health Sciences PhD student) is a dietician and nutritionist, , whose thesis focuses mainly on nutrition and supplementation in endurance sports. The speaker is a teacher and advisor to athletes –mainly cyclists, triathletes and trail runners– as well as tennis players competing at the national level.
The conference is both free and accessible to all those interested on the topic, and will be streamed live on YouTube. Schedules are available for consultation at this link.
