Vidal Mazón, a graduate of the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Iberoamerican University) (UNIB) and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic) (UNEATLANTICO), together with a group of professionals, including Carmen Lili Rodríguez of the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México (International Iberoamerican University) (UNINI MX), propose to use a consolidated structure through the Blockchain system for the safe and effective transfer of information on asthmatic patients for their correct treatment.
Concern about maintaining the medical information and history of asthma patients arises because of the pandemic. A time when a large number of asthma patients die in the United States due to the overcrowding of patients with similar symptoms in the health care system. The main cause was Covid-19 as it presents similar symptoms to the asthma patient.
Professional proposal
The research showed that previous models had attempted to make the patients' medical records available through platforms or apps that were easily accessible to physicians. However, this approach led to maintaining leaks of sensitive information or directly to the inefficiency and lack of security for the patients' medical information.
Therefore, the proposal to use the Blockchain-based consolidated information exchange structure results in a secure option and restricted access to medical professionals. Information that can be securely shared includes the patient's record, insurance information, and most recent treatments.
The information would be encrypted within the Interplanetary File System (IPFS).
