Puerto Rico hosts a Picasso exhibition organized by FUNIBER's Cultural Work and UNEATLANTICO together with UNIB

The FUNIBER Cultural Foundation and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), in collaboration with the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Ibero-American University, UNIB), inaugurated on May 29 the exhibition “I Still Surprise,” a remarkable display of works by the famous artist Pablo Picasso at the Museum of History and Art in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

The exhibition will be open to the public until November 14 and can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The exhibition brings together a careful selection of works that highlight the innovation, genius, and lasting impact of Picasso's legacy on contemporary art. This initiative seeks to bring the public closer to one of the great masters of the 20th century and to foster a space for reflection and artistic appreciation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Carol Morales, rector of UNIB, and Ms. Michelle Gil, director of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Development of the Municipality of Carolina, along with their team, who contributed to an exceptional opening day. The event also featured the participation of representatives from different cultural communities, as well as attendees of all ages, creating an enriching and diverse atmosphere.

The event was enlivened by musical performances by students from the Carolina School of Fine Arts, adding a festive and educational touch that reinforced the inclusive and educational nature of the exhibition.

The exhibition “Picasso: Still Surprising” is composed of three complete collections. The first, “Les Bleus de Barcelona,” consists of 11 works that reflect the artist's early periods in Barcelona. The second collection, “Dancers,” includes 14 engravings on leather that capture dancers in a single stroke, demonstrating Picasso's technical and aesthetic mastery. Finally, “Geneviève” comprises 12 works on Japanese paper, created in the 1950s and published in 1974, which portray Geneviève, Picasso's young lover, in a series of spontaneous and decorative drawings, revealing a more personal and lesser-known side of the artist.

With this initiative, Obra Cultural and UNIB reinforce their commitment to promoting art and culture as key tools for social and educational development. FUNIBER, in line with its mission to offer equal opportunities and a student-centered teaching model, continues to consolidate its position as a benchmark in the region in the cultural and academic fields.
