In celebration of October 5, World Teachers' Day, the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (UNIB) join Teacher Wellness Program, promoted by the Social Action Area of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) and the Digital TA virtual training platform, and presents a new publication that brings together reflections, experiences, and lessons learned from six virtual meetings dedicated to collectively considering the well-being of those who teach.
The publication “Six Conversations, One Community.” "Promoting Teacher Well-Being Through Reflection, Research, and Peer Learning" is the result of a process of dialogue and participation organized into six sessions over the course of a year, which focused on teachers’ experiences, their daily challenges, and the importance of creating spaces to share, listen, and develop collective tools for care and well-being in the field of education.
Throughout the six virtual sessions, participants from diverse backgrounds had the opportunity to exchange perspectives and experiences related to teaching, exploring different aspects of well-being and highlighting the value of conversation as a tool for strengthening educational practices and relationships.
The initiative is part of the community organized on the Digital TA platform, a space created as part of the European Union-funded project “Digital Academy in Teaching Practice for a Seamless Transition from Pre-Service to In-Service” (Digital TA), which concluded in 2025 and in which FUNIBER and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic) were partners, along with other European institutions.
Reading Together to Reflect on Education
On October 8th at 5:00 p.m. (Spain), as part of the activities of the Teacher Wellness Program and the celebration of October 5th, there will also be a virtual book club meeting to discuss The Ignorant Schoolmaster by Jacques Rancière.
The proposal invites us to collectively engage with a work that raises questions about equality, emancipation, and the relationships that are formed in the processes of teaching and learning. The shared reading will be an opportunity to pause, discuss, and explore how Rancière’s ideas relate to the experiences and questions that shape teaching today.
The event aims to make reading a space for exchange: reading with others, listening to different interpretations, and raising new questions about the meaning of teaching and learning.
Celebrating Those Who Teach
The book launch and the reading event are part of the initiatives organized by the Teacher Wellness Program to commemorate October 5 and recognize the vital role that teachers play in building educational communities.
At the same time, the celebration aims to create spaces that allow us to view the teaching profession from the perspective of well-being, participation, and collective care. In this regard, the new publication reflects part of our shared journey and opens the door to continuing the dialogue beyond virtual meetings, sharing the group’s knowledge with society.
