UNIB promotes dialogue on mental health and addiction at an international event in Puerto Rico

The Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Ibero-American University, UNIB) will participate in the «Mental Health and Addiction Conference,» to be held on Saturday, November 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This convergent and interdisciplinary event will bring together leading professionals from Puerto Rico and abroad to address issues of vital importance in mental health and problematic substance use.

The main objective of the conference is to address the treatment of addiction from a clinical and psychosocial perspective. During the meeting, key topics will be explored in depth, such as the clinical approach to patients who use substances, as well as the processes and methodology for effective psychosocial assessment. These panels are designed to provide attendees with theoretical and practical tools that will enable them to improve their interventions and understand the complexity of addiction in the contemporary context. The event has been conceived as scientific and professional in nature and will be valid for obtaining continuing education hours.

As part of its institutional involvement, UNIB will have an information table throughout the day, where attendees can learn in detail about the current academic offerings, study modalities, and educational opportunities offered by the university. This action reinforces its commitment to educational excellence and equitable access to higher education.

Confirmed speakers include renowned experts from Argentina, Puerto Rico, and the United States. One of the featured participants is psychologist Eduardo Lavorato, who will offer relevant contributions to professional knowledge in this field.

UNIB's presence at the Mental Health and Addiction Conference reaffirms its institutional mission to train professionals of excellence, with a socially responsible vision and prepared to contribute to the collective well-being and academic progress of Puerto Rico. With this participation, the university confirms its commitment to being present in specialized dialogue spaces and contributing to the strengthening of local capacities in mental health, prevention, and intervention.
