The Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Iberoamerican University of Puerto Rico, UNIB), in collaboration with the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana in Panama (Iberoamerican University Foundation, FUNIBER), organized a graduation ceremony for students who received scholarships through the FUNIBER Scholarship Program and who have successfully completed their online postgraduate studies at institutions in its university network: the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) and the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México (International Iberoamerican University of Mexico, UNINI México).
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Roberto Ruíz, Vice-Rector of International Relations and Secretary General of UNEATLANTICO, as part of his working tour of Central America. Also participating was the Spanish consul in Panama, Dr. Mario Crespo, as well as the cultural attaché of the Embassy of the United Mexican States in Panama, Mr. Mario Jesús Beltrán Mainero, head of Cultural Affairs and International Cooperation and second secretary of that embassy. The dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr. Olmedo Estrada, who is also the liaison between the university and FUNIBER in Panama, was in the presidium as host and representative of the Universidad Latina.
The opening words of the event were given by Dr. Gregorio Urriola Candanedo, director of the FUNIBER headquarters in that country, who was pleased that the scholarships awarded for the benefit of the education of many professionals culminated in this ceremony in areas that promote the knowledge and development of Panama and the region.
For his part, the vice-rector of UNEATLANTICO, Roberto Ruíz, extended his congratulations to the graduates, highlighting their efforts and those of their families and friends, and invited them to continue their professional development in a changing world. Digital messages were also sent by the rector of UNEATLANTICO, Dr. Ruben Calderón, and that of UNINI Mexico, Dr. Luis Dzul. Likewise, Marjorie Franco, representing the headquarters staff, reiterated the willingness to continue supporting graduates in future professional development efforts.
To close the event organized by the Panamanian branch of FUNIBER, by Sindy Martínez as administrative director, the graduates and their families made a toast of honor and shared in an enjoyable gathering with photo sessions to remember this great moment. The event was held in the main auditorium of the Universidad Latina de Panamá, an institution that is part of the FUNIBER network in Panama.
In this way, UNIB reaffirms its commitment to the education and development of highly trained professionals in Panama and the region, providing opportunities for study and access to quality academic programs.
