Description
This master’s program integrates concepts related to the design, operation, and management of projects, from the development of the project to its subsequent analysis, regardless of its origin or purpose.
From this integrated perspective of project design, management, and direction, the program aims to train professionals with a strong social and ethical commitment and a global vision of what urban intervention entails. In this sense, completing the program provides training in concrete methodologies for contributing solutions to urban and architectural problems, allowing for the redesign of the physical spaces that human beings occupy in contemporary life.
The Program is particularly designed for professionals with a marked interest in orderly urban growth and the physical transformation of the city through its various interventions, based on the methodology of Architecture and Urban Planning.
Learning Objectives
Competencies
- Provide knowledge on orderly urban growth and the physical transformation of the city through its various interventions, grounded in the methodology of Urban-Architectural Projects, from an integrated perspective of project design, management, and direction. The goal is to train professionals with a strong social and ethical commitment and a global understanding of what city intervention entails.
- Deliver instruction in new or lesser-known environments within broad contexts related to the student’s field of study so they can apply the knowledge acquired, make informed judgments, take decisions, and use concrete methodologies to solve urban and architectural problems that allow for the redesign of the physical spaces occupied by human beings in contemporary life.
- Provide scientific research tools that enable students to produce creative work ethically, demonstrating mastery of the material.
Outcomes
At the end of the program, students will be able to:
- Define basic concepts in the field of architectural and urban projects.
- Design a preliminary project by considering its basic elements—from defining the problematic situation to presenting the proposed solution—recognizing the components that must be specified for future project management and implementation.
- Identify and analyze the fundamental aspects of a project in the field of architecture and urbanism in order to strategically define the service to be provided, the required ergonomics, and the functional characteristics of the project.
- Analyze key aspects of managing an urban-architectural project, including identifying stakeholders, understanding user requirements, managing work teams, and evaluating the basic factors that determine its feasibility and viability.
- Identify the elements that contribute to the quality, safety, and reliability of the project, as well as those that represent significant risks, also analyzing its potential environmental impact and existing models of sustainable development and eco-design.
- Incorporate basic project management and direction tools to support the proper handling of resources, scheduling, and ICT tools available in the field of urban-architectural projects.
Who Should Apply
The proposed training methodology, combined with the clarity, breadth, and didactic structure of the content, makes it possible to offer the Master’s in Project Design, Management, and Direction to university-trained professionals from all areas of knowledge who are interested in becoming involved in the world of projects in a responsible manner and with a high level of study discipline. It is intended for those who wish to work in the field of project teaching and research and/or in the professional sphere, holding executive positions or providing project consulting services.
Duration
Regarding the distribution of time, the following is established:
- Although it is a distance-learning program and does not require in-person classes, it follows a collaborative and cooperative learning methodology. For this reason, a specific start date is set for each cohort once enrollment is formalized, as long as spaces are available. The Design phase of the program will be accessible once the student has completed the requirement of two courses in the Management area.
- For academic and learning purposes, the program has a minimum duration of twenty-one months.
- The maximum time allowed to complete the program is twenty-four months. During this period, the student must successfully complete all evaluated activities and must have passed the Master’s Thesis.
